The Range has Officially Opened
After months of anticipation the day has finally arrived for Belfast’s newest superstore, The Range, to open its doors. The launch took place at 9am Friday 29th December, in the former Tesco unit at Connswater Shopping Centre in front of a huge queue of eager customers. The store was officially opened by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Sonia Copeland and CEO of The Range, Nigel Oddy. The crowd was overflowing with excitement and the ribbon cutting was met with smiles and applause.
The new branch in Connswater comes at the end of a busy year of store openings for The Range and is a great step in the company’s growth in Northern Ireland, following openings in Ballymena and Londonderry in the past 18 months. The Connswater store has brought 80 full and part-time jobs to the shopping centre, from store and office managers, to warehouse assistants and retail administrators, which is sure to be a great boost for the
Friendly staff were joined by Captain Range, the company’s own mascot to welcome customers to the store. Once open, shoppers couldn’t wait to explore their new store and find themselves some fantastic bargains. The new store provides great value products across 16 departments, including Arts & Crafts, DIY and Homewares. There are fantastic offers for customers to enjoy running across all departments until 14th January.
The Range gave away prizes to the first 50 people in the queue, including a snow machine and vacuum cleaner for the first customer in line, Naomi Savage, who queued from 7am secure her prize. Cool FM were in-store on opening morning to provide entertainment and music for the crowds. They ran a competition for a handful of lucky customers to win a share of £250 in Range gift cards. Devon-based entrepreneur, Chris Dawson, the owner and founder of The Range commented on the opening: “It was great to hear of so many people at the store to celebrate the Grand Opening in Connswater this morning. We hope that all our customers found themselves some fantastic bargains.
He added, “We are really pleased to continue our rapid expansion this year and are already preparing for another busy year of openings in 2018. We are certain that the jobs we have created will be a welcome boost to the shopping centre and nearby retail park. We would like to thank the shopping centre and local council for their support in welcoming us to the town”.
