Leading retailer Hoi Polloi has now opened its doors in East Belfast’s best-known shopping centre. The store, which opened on Saturday 24th March, has employed 7 new staff to date and is a fantastic addition to the range of fashion retailers currently offered at Connswater. Colin Thompson store manager, “We are excited to be now open at Connswater Shopping Centre. Hoi Polloi caters for those who are fashion conscious and want the latest look and must have brand, we are the first store to open in Belfast. Scorching Season ahead and New Store at Connswater Shopping Centre

Spring has well and truly arrived at Connswater Shopping Centre – and to make a good forecast even better it has been announced that the leading retailer Hoi Polloi has now opened its doors in East Belfast’s best-known shopping centre. The store, which opened on Saturday 24th March, has employed 7 new staff to date and is a fantastic addition to the range of fashion retailers currently offered at Connswater. Shopping Centre Manager, Gerry Monaghan also added, “The retail mix at Connswater is going from strength to strength this year. Having secured Bon Marché and Peacocks we are confident that our offering for local shoppers is better than it has ever been. There’s lots happening this Easter at the centre and the new arrival of Hoi Polloi has added to the air of excitement.”

In addition to the recent arrival of Hoi Polloi, Connswater Shopping Centre now offers a wide range of fashion retailers including New Look, Internacionale, Blue Inc, Peacocks and Dunnes – making it the best spot to shop for Spring trends this season.

Good News for Connswater Shopping Centre

Connswater Shopping Centre is glad to announce that resident retailers Bon Marché and Peacocks will be keeping their doors open. Bon Marché store in Connswater closed temporarily after the national collapse of the chain in January which led to UK job losses of approximately 1,400 jobs. Despite hundreds of stores having remained closed across the nation, Connswater’s Bon Marché has defied the downturn by reopening just weeks later on Monday 12th March at 10am. It is now the only Bon Marché store in Belfast and one of only 8 others across Northern Ireland who have remained open out of the regions 17 stores.

Jolene Gibson, manager of Bon Marché at Connswater Shopping Centre believes that there is still a market for the store and is optimistic about future trading in the centre, she commented.

In addition to the 10 jobs which Bon Marché has secured in the centre, an additional 18 jobs will be safe due to the announcement by Peacocks that they will also be keeping their doors open. The Peacocks chain experienced a similar crisis across the UK with many stores being taken over leaving just 2 stores open in Belfast including Connswater Shopping Centre.

Gerry Monaghan, manager of Connswater Shopping Centre welcomes the good news and is delighted that both Bon Marché and Peacocks are staying open. He said, “This is great news for Connswater Shopping Centre and for East Belfast. Not only are there a substantial number of jobs secured in the area but there is also a sense of triumph that these stores have not been forced to close like so many of their counterparts. I welcome their decision to stay with us and look forward to a new season of successful trading.”
