Need ideas on how to entertain the kids this Summer?

We thought that we would give you some great, fun ideas on how to entertain the kids outdoors. Let’s make the most of this Summer and have lots of fun with the family!

Chalk Drawings

Who remembers doing this as a kid? A simple, yet such fun thing to do outdoors. All you need is some colourful chalk and an area where your kids can get creative and draw beautiful pictures. The best thing about this activity is that there is no cleaning up, yes you heard right, no cleaning up (parents rejoice!). Once the rainy weather comes back, which we’re sure it unfortunately will, it will simply wash away the drawings. Adults, why not get involved too? Colouring-in is great for mindfulness and is a lot of fun too!

Camping

Did your holiday get cancelled? Or do the kids just want to get out and feel like they are going on a trip? Treat them to a camping holiday in your back garden. All you will need is a tent, pillows, duvet and why not bring along some marshmallows and toast them over a portable BBQ? Sing some camp song classics, play some outdoor games and have lots of fun as a family on your camping trip in your garden.

Story Stones

Enjoy going on walks with the family? When you are on your next walk, look for some flat or smooth pebbles that you can create story stones with. To create a story stone, use a black felt tip pen to draw a design on the stone. Then using colourful paint, paint in your design to bring your story stone to life. This is a great way of letting your kids be creative, while having lots of fun outdoors.

Treasure Hunt

Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a treasure hunt? Create some clues or riddles and hide them around your garden or draw a map that they need to follow. Remember to leave a prize at the final location. In terms of prizes, you could offer a movie night of their choice, their favourite dinner/snack or a family board game night!

Host A Family Sports Day

With schools out for Summer, your little ones may have unfortunately missed their school sports day, so why not create a family sports day of your own?

There are lots of fun sports day activities that you can recreate, such as:

  • Egg & spoon race
  • Running race
  • Obstacle course
  • Skipping rope race
  • Standing long jump
  • Sack race

Get the family together for a fun filled sports day, while creating memories that will last a lifetime.
